MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 03/06
TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 03-06-2021 STILL FAIR TO BORDER-LINE GOOD TRAIL CONDITIONS! No significant Changes. Groomer Operators reporting fair results with no new snow. Limited snow and recent warm weather this season has given us a very hard base covered with a thin layer of soft sugary snow and some icy corners. Most of our Trail System is in Overall Fair to almost Good condition with some outlying areas in poor condition. Trail 8 from Shingleton West to Trail 417 is a bit choppy in areas but fairly flat. Trail 417 to Brownstone Intersection and Trail 7 from 2 miles South of Christmas South to Buckhorn Road and Trail 418 are in Fair condition and a bit choppy. Trail 7 South of Doe Lake Road and Trail 419 from Wetmore to about 2 miles Northwest of Munising are in poor condition. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 North of Shingleton is fairly flat for 7 miles North of Shingleton but listed as Poor due to being very thin for the first 4 miles heading North with a few bare patches and bare or icy corners. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A fast-moving system this evening through tonight brings 4 to 8 inches of snowfall to the area. Most snow will fall within a 6 hour period with moderate to heavy snow rates (0.5 to 1+ inch per hour) and quickly reduced visibilities down to 1/4 mile or less for a 2 to 4 hour period. Snow will end overnight into early Monday morning. The Monday morning commute could be impacted, especially in the east, mainly for roads that have not been treated/cleared yet.
