KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 03/01 Beautiful photo of Groomer Operators Justin Rogan and Richard Harris this morning on Brockway Mountain! Yesterday’s fresh snowfall of 6-8 inches, cold temperatures and lower traffic was a win/win situation. Groomer Operators worked literally around the clock to get trails back into excellent shape. I personally rode just about every trail north of Mohawk and it was a dream day! Green means Go! I left the barn at 6:00 am trail 3 north was still in good shape from the night crew. 130 Eagles loop looked in good shape with very little moguls to repair but had to work some high banks in the curves. Trail 132 Lac La Belle needed a little more work but came out looking real good. Once I started back south on Trail 3 it was starting to get moguled so I cut it a little more than the other trails and it looked good also. Temps stayed between 24° – 30° and started snowing pretty good at the end of my run. So far in Toivola Ive got 7" of snow. Superior Snowmobile Club >> As our snowmobile season comes to a close, and our grooming comes to an end, we wish to thank our club officers, our groomers, all of the businesses that have supported us, and those riders that came to enjoy our trails and supported our community. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Expect mostly dry weather today through Monday as a cold front exits the U.P. this morning. A few light snow showers will be possible in the higher terrain of the western half through tonight, with minimal accumulations less than an inch. Most locations will struggle to get above freezing today, with the exception of areas near Lake Michigan. Night time temps are still staying below freezing and days looks like it 30s ❄️ The parking lots/plowed areas around here are melting down so where ever you can find snow feel free to park your sled! Here is a update from Tim & Robin who has been here for the last few days (come up throughout the winter) ❄️ North of Houghton yesterday the trails were groomed and in good shape. Thursday we rode north it was beautiful, South of Sidnaw they do get a little more rough. Iron River is where the line is drawn really bad. They are rideable but if they haven’t groomed they’re will be mogal. Some water holes and open dirt on most trails also. But you can hit a really good 10 to 20 miles without dirt or water. ❄️ Thank you for the update!! A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. I met this awesome group today at the Mosquito during my Meet and Greet. So I sent them down trail 109 to Alston and the second pic is what they made for me to enjoy when I groom again. Thanks for supporting Western UP Trail Reports and I hope you find me next year when your up riding.
