Harbor Springs Trail Report – 02/28
HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 02/28 We have been getting numerous reports that the lakes are not safe including Larks Lake & Wycamp ⚠️ We did not have any groomers out last night, trails are getting snirty, slushy, and icy in spots. It’s currently 50 degrees and we are supposed to get rain this afternoon, trail conditions are expected to deteriorate. <> WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Ongoing snow showers will take a pause this evening before another round of snow tracks across Northern Michigan early Tuesday. Be prepared for the possibility of a brief period of lowered visibilities and snowfall on roads M-72 and north during the morning commute. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had two groomers out last night and groomed from the Harbor Barn to Pellston & Alanson along with the Railroad grade from Alanson to Mackinaw. We will have another groomer heading out on the west side tonight. Overall the trails are in good shape considering it’s March 23rd! The worst areas of our system are where our trails run along side dirt roads, which would be Palmer Road, Teal Road, & Camp/Ely Bridge Road. Thankfully they are short sections & there are ways to avoid them completely. Mainly dry conditions are expected tonight and Monday, though we will be a little cooler on Monday. There is a chance for snow showers late Monday night into Tuesday morning (especially in the eastern UP), and again on Wednesday.
