Munising Area Trail Report – 02/24
MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/24 TRAIL REPORT – Wednesday, 2-24-2021 A WARM WEATHER HIT BUT HANGING ON! We received about an inch of new snow last night and it’s still falling. Operators reported fair grooming results with our Trail System in Overall Good condition, staying fairly flat through the day with some icy corners developing. The trails are soft and not setting after grooming due to the warm weather. Ride with caution. In the towns and along highways you will be finding dirty snow and bare spots. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. Even with this warm spell, the trails are hanging on for some really good riding – but barely. Yesterday work was done on the JD 7130 repairing a fuel tank bracket and groove cutting was started on the front tracks. This will hopefully solve our icy hill climb issues we get on both sides of Munising after these low snow warm spells. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419. Cloudy skies linger through the day, with highs ranging from the mid 30s in the east and near Lake Superior to mid 40s in the west and south-central U.P. Another weak clipper crosses the lake tonight, bringing a chance for some light snow showers across the north. While much of the UP picks up an inch or less of snow, higher totals up to 1-3in will be possible over the far eastern UP. We are running minimal runs in order to keep the trail smooth and save the snow for the rest of the season. Trail is ice and is grooming out as such. We will keep doing the best we can with what we have to get through the end of the season.
