MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/23

TRAIL REPORT – Tuesday, 2-23-2021
TRAILS TAKING A WARM WEATHER HIT! We received a dusting of new snow last night but did not help with temperatures in the low 30’s and 40 degrees right now. Operators reported fair grooming results with no balling-up snow last night but the trails would not set being this warm. Overall Good trails are staying fairly flat through the day with some icy corners developing and a few thin area bare spots. Ride with caution. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. It has been a struggle this year and today’s weather will again have a negative impact on the trails so lets hope it is minimal. Keep the snow dances going as we have “heavy snow” in the forecast for Wednesday. It’s funny with the little amount of snow this season forecasters are considering only 2 to 5 inches “heavy snow”. Yesterday we moved the JD 7130 to the shop for some maintenance, repairs and track mods during this warm weather and plan to have it back on Trail 419 Thursday. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419.

Our Team of volunteer Groomer Operators will continue to do their best to keep trails flat so; get out and ENJOY the Trails Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates! https://www.algersorva.com/trailreport/2-23-2021/

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A pair of systems will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to the U.P. today into tonight. A clipper will spread a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain across the area this morning, changing to all rain from west to east as temperatures climb above freezing in the afternoon, reaching as high as the mid 50s in the west. A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. A glaze of ice will also be possible in a few spots this morning and again tonight. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaA pair of systems will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to the U.P. today into tonight. Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> The struggle is real! Alger SORVA pulled a day shift assist and smashed down our problem areas with the Bison today, but that didn’t stop us from getting into a bind with too much snow! The tunnel under 41 had a 3’ (settled height) drift down the entire length and it was too much to push through. We are close to the roof of the machine during normal operas we scrape it down close to the bottom. One of our operators threw his personal track loader on a trailer and came to the rescue. Between the track loader and the Deere, we were able to clear the tunnel out and get back to grooming. These guys go to all lengths to keep operations moving forward. #munising #snowphotos ...
