KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western & Southern UP Trail Reports – 02/22 My buddy Glenn doing his thing early in the morning keeping things in shape for ya in Toivola. <> <> KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 02/21 Unfortunately the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club (Toivola north to Copper Harbor) is now currently down to 1 of 5 machines. One of the two machines that was operational had the alternator go out in the middle of a run last night. The machine needing an alternator is hoped to be fixed and running by tomorrow evenings run. The other two machines required parts should be in on Tuesday and repaired ASAP. Multiple messages have come in assuming that there are financial reasons the repairs are taking time… the way I understand it is that in some situations quotes must be received, sent to the board, then sent to local DNR who then forwards to Lansing for approval. If you will be riding this upcoming week, I definitely recommend you download the Groomer Tracker app and use it for planning your daily routes. We will try to keep you updated as to when machines will be back in operation. Blizzard Warnings have moved South to include Leelanau, Emmet, Cheboygan, Southeastn Chippewa, Mackinac Island/Bois Blanc, Beaver Island. Ice Storm Warnings have moved South to include Wexford, Missaukee, Oscoda, Alcona and Alpena Counties. Winter Weather Advisories now include Clare, Osceola Counties.
The warm line is farther South keeping higher totals North. Winds continue to pick up along with the snow tonight.
