Temps all across the U.P are bitterly cold, we seem to be on the warmer end …. if you can call -12 degrees “warm” With 55 plus inches of snow falling in a week, I’m sure you can imagine the work that has made for Groomer Operators! Here in the Keweenaw they have been trying to keep up with it all, along with trying to get all of the machines up and running. Its Friday the 12th of February and its almost 10° out. Trails are in very good shape after getting 50+ inches if snow and bitter cold temps. If your planing on coming up for the weekend its going to be very cold. Looks like we will stay below zero for Sat/ Sun and double digit negative temps. at night. I’m sure that there will be very heavy traffic with this being a three day weekend for many after a week of incredible snowfall…. we all know that can lead to less than perfect trails…. but I can assure you these Groomer Operators will be doing everything they possibly can to “keep up”.

app to help you plan routes each day. For a $10 fee, of which $5 goes directly to the club, you will be able to see up to the minute status of each trail!

Every year we get a warm up for a few days. Mid 30's and low 40's will definitely make it a little sloppy and most likely moguled up by Sunday. My guess is that we will pause grooming during this time and it's going to get rough. By Wednesday night into Thursday the temps will drop and we can possibly resume grooming but it'll take a couple day's to fix the mess.
Keep in mind I ride in 40°-50° days most of April and the trails hold up pretty good.
