KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 02/08 THIRTY FIVE plus inches of snow has fallen in the Keweenaw since Thursday and it just continues to fall! ❄️ Adam Garvey and his niece were out enjoying the trails today and actually caught a glimpse of the sun up in Cooper Harbor. Other than that, it was a very low visibility day again with the lake effect snow and the cold temperatures causing a great deal of snow dust. Adam shared these photos of their ride today! (After searching the area around the trail for the Cliff View Bar sign). The sign usually located on Trail 3 for Cliff View is “missing” and it does not appear to have “blown” away. If you know anything about the whereabouts of this sign, please let us know or call Cliff View Bar! <> Literally the Lake Effect Snow making machine switch is stuck in the “on” position….. I’m not sure it’s ever going to stop! I’m not going to lie, it has been cold riding BUT so worth it with all the fresh snow! Thank goodness indoor dining has been resumed! A clipper will spread a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain across the area this morning, changing to all rain from west to east as temperatures climb above freezing in the afternoon, reaching as high as the mid 50s in the west. A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. It looks like we have the entire week of bitterly cold temps ahead also, but come next week they will be more tolerable. The Keweenaw has been significantly “warmer” than a lot of other areas in the U.P. and northern Wisconsin. I included a photo from US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan
of the overnight temps also.
