Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/09
February 9, 2021 Minus 6 degrees this morning under a clear blue sky. Man, we just can`t catch a break for the snow! The breeze is still outa the W/SW. I have been watching the radar the last few days and its been snowing like crazy out in the big lake and just hanging there just off shore. We haven`t had any new snow since last Friday night! We do have around a foot and a half on the ground in most places with more out by the Falls. We have been grooming so here`s how thats been going… Dave M. ran the South trail #8 yesterday and said it was good, just need more snow. Glenn ran the Point trails and said the same thing. Dave M. is runnin the Falls trail again today and thats about all I know. If only the breeze would switch we would be gettin hammered!!! We are grooming the trails on an every-other- day schedule cause of the lack of snow. They are all in good shape being flat and hard. Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected. Mike C. ran the Falls trail #45 Sunday night. He took his wife with him (poor Mike) and she took some videos and posted them on our FB page. Check them out. You can see the snow depth where they have more snow out that way and that trail turned out good also.

10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD.
Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails......
Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up.
Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.

So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂
Anyway, 4th season playing with one of these and I can tell you it's been a perfect storm 😁 of continuous snow, temps, and all of you working with us to leave the snow on the corners for us to squish, ( See how wide and Flat they're building up!!) I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Actually belive this keeps up, we will make the cover of Better Cabins & Trails this year 😎
