TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf – 01/30
We will be open for outdoor food and beverage service 12pm-4pm Saturday and Sunday (today and tmrw).
Trail Report:
Trails: Very good
Groomers Running: Yes, all week they’ve been able to get out and groom
Recent Snowfall: It has snowed every day this week and over the past 7 days we’ve received approx 8 or 9 inches of snow
Current Temp: 8 degrees
Trails are in good shape, really the best they’ve been all season. Snowfall all week with groomers running and limited mid week traffic on them should make for some excellent weekend riding today and tmrw.
TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Snowmobile Club – 01/30
Reports from the groomers last night show show that the bright sunshine yesterday took a toll on our trail system. Groomers report thinning snow and snirt on the trails. The Southern trails took the worst hit while the Northern trails seem to be holding up better. Unfortunately the weather forecast doesn’t show any significant snow in the next few days. My forecast that this would be a great weekend of riding was way off. Sorry about that. I try and report the the trail conditions as honestly as I can. The snow we received the other day was very spotty and some places received 4-5 inches of fluff while others hardly received any and what little fell was so light that it blew away instead of packing down. Looking out the window at my house in Williamsburg it looked like we got good snow but after riding the trails I realized how light the snow was. Lesson learned- no more trail reports without personally inspecting the trails. There is still plenty of snow to ride but it will be thin in spots. We are still grooming and will try and keep what snow we have smooth and rideable.

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Not too impactful of a system in terms of Michigander standards, but do take it slow if you encounter any snow squalls and/or visibly slick roads. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyHere is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.
