SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/22 City trails are all in good shape, a few wet areas but nothing impassable. The worst one is on the trail from Kewadin to the Antlers Restaurant. Trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley was done today. Overall good shape, some thin areas. Raco/ Bay Mills / Mission Hill Overlook- in good shape after Ken groomed last night. Trail 49 from the Soo to Kinross remains our biggest challenge. We can only get the groomer south to 12 mile due to excessive water in the swamps but it is passable by sled. Use caution! Around the airport in Kinross is being done today and should be in fair to good shape. As always, ride safe, have fun and dance for more snow!❄️❄️❄️ <> Sault Ste. A clipper will spread a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain across the area this morning, changing to all rain from west to east as temperatures climb above freezing in the afternoon, reaching as high as the mid 50s in the west. A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. Good morning all!
Unfortunately, it stayed too warm overnight for us to send groomers out.
We are supposed to get 4-6” of snow beginning later this morning, and temps are supposed to drop late tonight, so we’ll get back out as soon as we can!
I rode last night and trails were holding up beautifully. They’ll get a little beat up today with Saturday traffic. I’ll be out riding today to check things out before I hop in the groomer tonight.

A little above freezing now, with freezing mist in some areas, but still looking amazing, especially for the first day of Spring! 😅🤯
