Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/20
No new snow overnight or since yesterday in downtown Frederic, Its currently 21 degrees and just calm outside.
I have seen sleds already this morning. I ran my sled around the building here yesterday for four or five laps but did not go out for a ride. In watching the camera on the trail north of gaylord I saw sleds going by and I could here the skis on the dirt and see them kick up some stones as they went by so I am still holding off. I do however upgrade my opinion of the trails from poor to about fair.
Hopefully we will get some more snow soon. Pics below are trail seven north of the high school looking east and west.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Feb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions. Colder Saturday, with a few flurries around again, and then, you guessed it, more snow chances going into early next week…though signals point toward a warming trend during this period as well. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie#traversecity#petoskeyFeb 4, 2026, 3am…Nuisance flurries hang on today, but the clipper parade returns starting Thursday, with a reinforcing shot of arctic air Friday that will result in some travel impacts as temperatures fall from near freezing early to the teens by afternoon with more snow showers and blustery conditions. JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> Monday update: Pisten Bully is still down on trail 4/76. NDA ordered Wednesday showed up Saturday afternoon. Crew got out there Sunday but found more damage and parts were ordered today. If you happen to find this boogie wheel between Alba and trail 76 north of Elmira please notify us, we need to get our hands on it. New part is on order and scheduled to be in tomorrow. If all goes as planned trails will be back in shape by end of the week. Huge thank you to Mike, Kevin, Phil, Rich and Craig for trying to get repairs made in timely fashion.
