Gaylord Bureau – January 18, 2021 – 9:08 am The trail conditions are currently poor, icy with some dirt showing. A few inches of fresh snow came down last night, but we could definitely use more. Our base needs to build up before the groomers can get out there, so we all need to keep thinking snow! As always, check back with us for updates and weather reports. http://www.gaylordmichigan.net/snowmobile-trail-report-114/ <> I have a dream……its MLK day and I have a dream that maybe we will get snow sometime this winter……..Weather is calling for a little lake effect each day this week, nothing came down last night and that may add up to a little fluff all week and then a predicted system snow next sunday…….I remember a few years ago when we never really got good rideable snow till Jan 28 and thats what its looking like again this year. There was an Indiana crew in here this morning and they said they had some decent riding down by houghton lake this past weekend except for the jeeps and side bys they ran into on the trail. I had a call last night from Minnesota asking how the snow was here as they did not have good conditions there either. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
