KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 01/18

Skylar Baxter got out for a ride today and shared these photos and review….

“60 miles, 2.5 hours on the sled today. Twin Lakes to Greenland on trail 13, Greenland back to Twin Lakes on trail 3. Definitely need more snow so the groomers can get out and work their magic. Trail 13, the closer to the lake, its really thin, and any part of the trail that is not on a gravel road, beat up pretty bad. I was happy to get on the rail bed! Lol.

It was snowing pretty good in Greenland area, but once I got back to Twin Lakes, notta, zip, zilch, nothing. As I look across the lake right now though, it’s snowing pretty good, fingers crossed it does this for the next two days at least.” Skylar

Happy to say the forecast does include snow! Hopefully we get a good dumping all week!

Thanks for sharing Skylar!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western & Southern UP Trail Reports – 01/18

Felt good to get in the seat and work the trails this morning. Trail came out in pretty good shape considering the lack of snow. I pretty much knocked the tops off in preperation for the snow that’s coming down right now.

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Did YOU take the chance and make a trip to ride?
I can not count the messages, posts, comments from last week of riders wondering if they should make “one last trip” to ride..... I have yet to hear from even one that regrets the decision to make the trip!
Kristen Cooper and Brian VanWieren
are definitely two that are glad they took the spur of the moment trip! Kristen shared these photos and words about their trip, “Final (spur of the moment) trip of the season was off the hook amazing! 2500 miles on our blue beauties this year. 💖❣️
Thursday: 550 mile car drive to find the best snow before it melts in the coming heat wave. ❄️... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - What an absolutely beautiful bluebird day on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula
!
April Wistrom Pankow
and her husband got out on the trails before sun up and shared these photos and comments with us, “With what we're guessing was our last snowmobiling adventure of the season, we had another fantastic day of riding. The Keweenaw rarely disappoints and we were able to enjoy another beautiful sunrise. If you haven't enjoyed a breakfast at Slim's Cafe
then you’re missing out! Also, make sure to stop in and see Ron at the Copper Harbor Fuel Stop
for his delicious food options and miscellaneous sled needs. Drive safe, drive right.”
We’re you able to enjoy the Keweenaw today?
It was an extremely busy day and the trail getting through Hancock is getting thinner each day.... if you are looking for locations to stage north or south of Houghton/Hancock there are a few options...I recommend calling first to verify there is space
Krupps Resort
- to the south of the bridge on trail 3 in Twin Lakes
The Trailside Lodge
on trail 17 in Calumet
Vansville Bar
on trail 3 at the intersection of trail 124
PLEASE ride with caution and stay right! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Update‼️ Sean’s riding did not end in Copper Harbor this morning.... here’s what Sean said after completing a 240 mile day! “240 miles today! The only bad spot was through Hancock on 17 on the way back. In the morning when we went through it was white and covered. When we came back it was thin and brown to bare in places by M&M Power Sports
...As expected not complaining. We went from Toivola to Copper Harbor to Vansville Bar
to Gay to Lake Linden down to Greenland and back to Toivola! Every trail is GREAT condition. Was hoping to get out in the woods but its rather hard out there not looking promising.” Thanks for the updating and photos Sean!
What a beautiful morning on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula....early bird definitely gets some beautiful trails all to themselves!
That was Sean Diederich’s goal this morning! Sean shared these photos and said, “Breakfast stop at the The Pines Resort Home of Zik's Bar always a good spot! The trails are as good as it gets right now. Pool table flat all the way from Toivola. Even through Houghton is snow covered and groomed.”
Thanks for sharing Sean! Hope your ride back to Toivola is just as good!
Get out there and ride! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos
