January 18, 2021
25 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. The last couple of mornings have been in the 20`s, so thats good. The weather guessers are calling for some snow every day for the next week, not much but at least some, maybe a total of around 6-8 inches. Being in a snow belt I`m praying we will get hammered…….it could happen!
Not much snow on the ground now. Here at my place we have about 4-5 inches…..pretty sad for the middle of January. I can see grass in my yard in spots!!! I should be saying feet instead of inches!!! I have seen some pics and videos out by Pine Stump of people riding and it don`t look too bad, apparently they have a touch more snow out that way. So much for the weather report, here`s what we`ve been up to……..
Last Saturday we took 2 groomers south of town to check out the Federal Forest section of trail #8. We can`t get in there with trucks or quads so we took 2 machines with 4 guys just to see what trees were down. It wasn`t too bad as far as trees and water and we made it thru and we left the gates open. Its not the greatest as far as snow cover but you can get thru on sleds. The only section we have not covered is the swamp south of town. We just don`t want to go in there until we have sufficient snow to fill in the water holes.
Well……thats the best I can do for an update for ya`s. We are all MORE than ready to start this season. If we could get a foot of snow we could get going. Do your best snow dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 3/19/26 29 degrees this morning and cloudy. Here`s what went on with the trails yesterday, and a couple of other things....... Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9. He had a good battle with all the drifting in "Siberia" but made it thru. It turned out good but he is gonna run it again today to clean up. I ran the South trail #8 and it turned out good also. Today we are hittin the Point trails #452 & #453 and the Pine Stump trails again. Now, here`s the couple of other things. We are down one machine still. The mechanic thinks he`s got it figured out and is sending us a part. We will install it and hopefully that does it. If not he can get here tomorrow. In fact, I think he`s coming tomorrow anyhow to run a computer scan on the whole system now that I think about it. I explained this yesterday in my report and I thought I was pretty clear but I`m still hearing questions so here ya go again.....THE SWAMP SOUTH OF TOWN AND NORTH OF THE RIVER MOUTH IS CLOSED!!!! It is ribboned off cause the gate is buried in snow. THE FALLS TRAIL #45 IS RIDEABLE BUT WE ARE DONE GROOMING IT!!!! If we went in there with a machine we would break it up and it would be unridable. Its gonna be rough but at least you can ride it. Simple as that, it is what it is and we can`t do nuttin about the low lands. Soooo.......there ya have it.......we`ll keep going until the weather won`t let us or until the end of the month with the other sections of trail. Groomer Chris #paradise #newberry ...
