KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 01/09

Our faithful daily rider Adam Garvey, has already covered most of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula today (it’s a rough job, but somebody has to do it I guess 😂)

Adam had this to say “Snow all morning in the Keweenaw, added up to less than an inch. It did make everything white again but also covered up the icy corners. Had to pull 2 guys out of the bush this morning that slid off a corner. That said most of 134 (besides High Rock area), 132, and 130 are still in good condition, 135 is still poor, almost unrideable. Trail 122 is good, 3 from Brockway all the way down to 17 to Hancock is getting very thin. Traffic is starting to get really heavy as of noon today. Starting to find trash along the trail again too 😡……. hope everyone has a super weekend!”
Thank you so much Adam for taking the tome to give that synopsis of the trail conditions and reminder to all riders to ride with caution!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Groomer Operators are pretty much back in full swing grooming trails for riders each day and night. There was a pause to grooming operations due to limited snowfall there for awhile.
The recent snowfall this week has enabled them to resume their schedules and trails are shaping up nicely, as you can see from these photos! Groomer Operator Joshua Rowe Sr. was one operator out all night and these are a few photos of those ribbon 🎀 trails he was laying.
Previously we had mentioned that trail 135 was in pretty poor condition, Josh has said he has been able to groom it the past two nights and it is getting better. He also said that Brockway Mountain
still had some thin areas and of course drifting with the winds we have had. Riders have all been commenting that the mountain was in good shape and the views are amazing! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos #trailreports

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Cullen Keath
and crew shared photos and comments regarding trail conditions
They rode from Houghton to Copper Harbor to High Rock Bay and back to Houghton. Cullen said “trails are great with the exception of trail 135/ and trail to High Rock Bay- moguls and creek crossing. We knew about the creek and were thankful it wasn’t deep, we really wanted to see Lake Superior at High Rock so we were glad we went. We passed the groomer a few times and trail 3 is awesome! We stopped to eat at The Mariner North
and the food was GREAT, we ate outside by the fire pits and oucinic tables. This was my first tome to ride in the U.P. And I can’t wait to come back”
Thank you, Cullen, for taking the time to share your photos and comments on the trails! So glad you enjoyed your riding!... #keweenaw #snowphotos

The trails are in good shape to excellent from South Range south to Toivola. Sounds like we have another round of snow Friday-Saturday with LES after the storm.
