IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 01/07
Three crews out today. We decided to send a groomer to groom Wakefield to our turn around with Gogebic Area Grooming on trail 8. We suggest trailering to Wakefield and unloading. Trustees Charlie and Joe our trail 160 bosses signed fields and pipelines closed. Steve with the pictures signed the reroute on trail 11S. Trails rated fair to poor, we have not groomed Ironwood, 160, 11S or trail 2. We will see what snow looks like tonight. 11S rated good GO SLOW THROUGH PLOWED LOGGING AREA. We hung ribbon at blind corners, yield to our logging crews!
Early season riding exists with low snow hazards on trails. They are very icy. Ride safe and support great sponsors like Pioneer Lodging!!

UPDATE via Sno Valley Riders Snowmobile Club >> Groomer Report; Trail Condition: Fair Last Groomed: March 01st, 2026 We will start grooming again this evening, it looks like we should be able to run for several days. Please ride on the RIGHT side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs! Stay on the trail, if you don’t we could lose trail permissions on private property. Groomers have the right of way on the trails, pull over and stop to let them safely pass! We have Groomer Tracker installed in our groomers. We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Unforeseen circumstances may prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns. #westernup... See MoreSee Less

IRONWOOD - WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority - ORV & Snowmobile Club >> 3.11.2026 Carter was out brushing part of Trail 160 yesterday, (3.10.2026) and after further inspection of Trail 160 and Trail 11s this afternoon by Charlie & Joe, both trails have quite a few water holes surfacing.’Hard to say how the water is flowing under the surface. Trial 8 also has water flowing on the trail. We know everyone wants to get that “one last” ride in for the year, but at this point it maybe not be worth the risk. We understand everyone will ride during different trail conditions. What I call excellent or poor trails conditions, the next person may say otherwise, and so on. For the time being, the only trail that will be getting groomed, (granted things stay the way they do), is Trail 2 from Ironwood to Marenisco. Our main priority is keeping everyone safe. We hope to see you this Saturday, March 14, 2026 for our Cure for Cabin Fever event. AJ's Lodge and Oven is still having their Yooper Poker Run whether your on your sled or in your vehicle, don’t forget to stop by VFW Post 3673 Bessemer, MI to get your card punched. Thank you to Longhini Property Management and General Insurance Agency for your donation towards our event! Ride safe, friends! Kami GRTA Secretary #ironwood#westernup#snowphotos3.11.2026

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins >> Well… it looks like winter heard us talking about spring and decided to come back for one more round. ❄️😂 Forecasts are calling for up to a foot and a half of fresh snow between Wednesday and Sunday, which in true Upper Peninsula fashion means two things: 1. Mother Nature isn’t done yet. 2. The snowmobiles might be getting one more victory lap. 🏁 So go ahead and dust off those sleds, find that hat you already packed away, and get ready for what could be some epic late-season riding. Fresh snow, quiet trails, and that beautiful Lake Superior winter backdrop we all love. Around here we call this “False Spring: Upper Peninsula Edition.” Winter isn’t leaving… it just stepped outside for a minute. 😉 #ontonagon #westernup... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> One last warm and sunny day is expected to start off the work week, with afternoon highs ranging in the 40s and 50s.
