Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/02
New Snow fell last night, about a whole 2 inches,The snow that did fall last night fell hard and fast and was a nice thick snow so that was a bonus. Sled traffic new years day was steady thru Frederic and trails are still well worn. I think I had more cars and trucks drive into the shop here yesterday than sleds. Trailer counts in Grayling this morning were the highest so far this year with 21 at the Ramada and 7 at the Days Inn. So the season is off to a typical slow start. I got here just before 9 this morning and there were already a couple people waiting on me. I heard Jerry on the radio station 100.3 is now doing Mo Mo Nah Chee Chee Nah with his weather reports. The Swamp has been busy all day and its saturday and that makes me think about Frederic Inn prime rib. Went down to Houghton Lake last night for the second friday night at Tip Up Town. I havent been down there in 30 years or probably more. Once a year the State Police come thru Frederic on the train to catch riders doing rail road trespass which can be as simple as being to close to the tracks so the moral of the story is STAY AWAY FROM THE TRACKS. Usually the train has a MSP sign on it but it did not today but I did see a sheriff car following along on old 27. They have been thru twice this afternoon and it was just 2 engines which never happens any other time. Not to much else to say. Thanks for checking in. Pisten Bully is still down on trail 4/76. NDA ordered Wednesday showed up Saturday afternoon. Crew got out there Sunday but found more damage and parts were ordered today.
If you happen to find this boogie wheel between Alba and trail 76 north of Elmira please notify us, we need to get our hands on it. New part is on order and scheduled to be in tomorrow.
If all goes as planned trails will be back in shape by end of the week.
