UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 12/28
Coming down like this here in the Soo on and off for a few hours now. It’s very windy so please watch for downed limbs and drifts if you go out. If you see branches down, please move them off of the trail if you can do so safely. We will update when we start grooming❄❄❄

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Snow showers will end across the eastern U.P. later this morning as a passing clipper exits the region. Cloudy skies linger through the day, with highs ranging from the mid 30s in the east and near Lake Superior to mid 40s in the west and south-central U.P. Another weak clipper crosses the lake tonight, bringing a chance for some light snow showers across the north. Expect minimal snow accumulations less than inch in most locations. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #sooSnow showers will end across the eastern U.P. later this morning as a passing clipper exits the region. SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/23/26 Another report from Mr & Mrs Turbo after their run on part of 480, and 8 from Ranger road to Brimley last night. No apology necessary in my book, but we as operators are more critical of ourselves than you guys realize, as he explains- “Here's a little report of what happened over the weekend. First of all, I want to start off with an apology to all of our followers and snowmobile enthusiasts. As you know I groom the trails for the weekend. Saturday evening we were watching the temperature all night. The forecast was calling for freezing temperatures starting at midnight. We set the alarm to get up and it was 33 degrees. Set it again for 1am, and it was still 33 degrees. Set it for 3am, same thing, still 33 degrees. By 5am, it finally reached 32 degrees with approximately a two hour window, which is not enough time to groom even halfway. I made a decision to not go out, because it would have done more harm than good. This was a hard decision and it really made me feel bad, since there were many trailers at Bay Mills for the weekend. We always want the trails to be in tip top shape, however we can't control the weather. Now on to the good news. Mrs. Turbo and I went out last night at 9pm, and it was 30 degrees. The trails were smoked. We did the power lines which had 4-5 ' moguls, and ran trail 8 into Brimley. The first pass was very slow going. Like 2-3 mph slow. The second pass through, we could go about 5mph. The trail was setting up really well. The base is still excellent with plenty of snow to work with, considering it is the last week of the season. Usually by this time of year there is open water holes and mud. We didn’t have any of that. I talked to Raco Dave this morning, he went out and did the 889 loop and said pretty much the same thing. It was a slow go, but he got it in pretty good shape. The rest of the week looks pretty good weather wise. Get up here for one last ride. It's the best the trails have ever been this late in the season. That's all for now. Ride right, ride safe, and ride sober. Turbo “ Great work with tricky conditions! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 #soo #soo0323d#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> After a quiet and sunny afternoon, expect increasing clouds tonight ahead of a quick batch of light snow showers late tonight into Tuesday morning. While much of the UP picks up an inch or less of snow, higher totals up to 1-3in will be possible over the far eastern UP. Moderate snowfall rates may lead to reduced visibility and slick roadways in the eastern UP during the Tuesday morning commute. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #sooAfter a quiet and sunny afternoon, expect increasing clouds tonight ahead of a quick batch of light snow showers late tonight into Tuesday morning. SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/23/26 On the move again! As reports come in, I’ll be sure to share. Things will be hard packed and scratchers may be needed until they loosen up again. Potential for a couple inches of snow mid week again. Roads and shoulders are bare now, so gas and road crossings are a bit challenging, but that’s spring riding. What a season! Ride safe all! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo03233/23/26

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/21/26 Wow! I am so pleasantly surprised how well the trails held up today!! Sugar Island Chris DID groom 8 this morning from the Soo to Brimley. For those that have been asking, the bay in Brimley is starting to show some slushy spots. While I wish I was hopping in the groomer, it’s just too warm and they are pretty darn good anyway! Shout out to Mackinac County Snowmobile Association , Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club & Grooming Report, and the Chippewa Snowchasers for their great trails today too! Lots of people out enjoying the day. We had heavy wet snow, then freezing rain, then back to snow. 150 miles of smiles here in the far EUP. I hope you got to enjoy it too! Incredible, especially for March 21st! ❄️❄️❄️ #soo #soo0321f#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
