IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 12/25 We had another 5in last night, Merry Christmas!! World Famous board member Charlie Blakut and trainee Victor B. have groomed Ironwood to Ramsay(Trail 2), Wakefield to Morgan Mine Hill (Trail 2), trail 8 and headed back to the Groomer Barn. Thank you Christmas Groomers!! We have nothing but snow forecast for the next week including a potential major storm. Were hoping Trail 160 is rolled tomorrow by the trail bosses and 11S packed by sleds. Trails are rated fair to poor, with some areas very good. We pride ourselves on underselling, much like every club up here. We are preemptively derating trails due to suspected traffic coming. However trails look pretty good and we are working away to make them amazing. A clipper will spread a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain across the area this morning, changing to all rain from west to east as temperatures climb above freezing in the afternoon, reaching as high as the mid 50s in the west. A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. We finished our ride yesterday on Trail 137 to Trail 13 to 101 to 12 back to White Pine. The snow had turned to mashed potatoes but trails for the most part were smooth and holding up well.
There are bare spots, standing water, running water, deteriorating snow bridges, and any roadside trail is bare, pretty typical late season riding.
Friday should still be a good day for riding.
Due to high temps we have halted all grooming operations.
Will go back out Sunday to assess the damage Ma Nature is causing.

Art just rode 142 miles across the Ontonagon trail system and called it “the best March riding he’s seen in 20 years.” ❄️🔥
