You soar 80 feet above the river on a dedicated section for motorized vehicles to use, how awesome is that?! It's one of the tightest groomer sections we have that provides very little margin for error. It's also a great view of Lake Superior, the Trapp hills to the south, and really lets you know how pro-snowmobile Ontonagon is. It's a tremendous destination full of amazing eateries like Up north cafe (best pancakes on planet earth), Syl's Restaurant, GiGi's Coffee and Sandwiches, Connie's Coffee and Subs, and of course the famous Roxey's Bar and Grill! Winter is absolutely delivering right now. We’re over 160” for the season total so far.
We’ve measured 24 inches of fresh snow in just the last week and a half right on our deck, and conditions across the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon area are shaping up to be the best snowmobiling and skiing we’ve seen in many years.
Snowmobile trails are well-covered with a solid base, riding smooth and fast thanks to consistent cold temps. Off-trail snow is deep, fluffy, and exactly what you hope for up here. For skiers — both downhill and Nordic — coverage is excellent, with beautiful natural snow and classic Lake Superior powder conditions.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to make the trip north, this is it.

Trail #13 from Rockland to Trail #101.
Trail #101 to 12.
Trail #1 from 12 to Lake of the Clouds.
All were reported in very good to excellent condition.
