Michigan Trail Report

Sidnaw / Bruce Crossing Trail Report – 03/30

We are at the end of another snowmobile season, the trails officially close at midnight tomorrow but in reality they are not rideable by snowmobile at this time so we are marking them closed. Thank you for riding our trails and visiting our local businesses this season! See you next season.

ORV riders are reminded that all snowmobile trails are NOT open to ORV’s. Our portion of trail 3 from Bruce Crossing to Rockland is NOT designated as multi-use so ORV’s are NOT allowed on it. Please respect the private property along this trail and stay off it unless you have permission from the land owner!

Please DO NOT climb the “Military Hill” from the highway, US 45, to the fence, we have ongoing erosion issues there and the hill climbers are adding to the problem. YOU COULD CAUSE THIS MAJOR TRAIL TO BE CLOSED IF YOU CONTINUE!

Watch for the groomers, they take up most of the trail and have the right of way!

Please pull over and DIM your lights for them, they have a long night out there.

Remember, you can get off the trail, the groomer can not.

Please ride on right side of the trail, STOP at the stop signs and treat YIELD signs appropriately.

Trail #3 North to Rockland is CLOSED on the South end and CLOSED on the North end.

Trail #8 from Ewen to trail #3 North is POOR.

Trail #3/8 East from Bruce Crossing to the trail #3 South intersection is POOR.

Trail #3/8 West from Bruce Crossing to the trail #3 North intersection is POOR.

Trail #3 South from the railroad grade to the CC road is CLOSED.

Trail #8 from the trail #3 South intersection to Trout Creek is POOR.

Trail #8 from Trout Creek to Kenton is POOR.

Trail #8 from Kenton to Sidnaw is POOR.

Thank you for all of the great riding this season. It took a lot of work this year - the brushing alone was a challenge! Next year will be better!

Groomer Report;

Riders need to be very careful on the trails now, the temps are getting warm and the sun is out and melting our trails away in many areas. We have suspended grooming as of now and possibly for the season. The trails have lot’s of icy areas and some good areas. There will be long areas of water and dirt on the trails and maybe even some ditches that will wash out from the melting snow. BEWARE!

Very late season riding conditions use CAUTION!!!!

Beware of this obstacle on the trail if you are riding near Ontonagon!

We are not grooming our trail system at this time. We did not get enough snow on Thursday and most of the trails are either ice or dirt and the road sides are bare. There are several areas that will not support the weight of the groomers as water starts to gather under the snow. We do not want to have a machine break through and become stuck. ... The gorge was pretty good today. We passed groomer at the north end of Baraga plains and he was doing a great job up that way.

Head north trails are awesome
