MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 3/23

TRAIL REPORT – Monday, 03/23/2020
GREAT TRAILS BUT SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED!

UPDATE: We received official notice from the DNR that Grooming Operations are shut down. Trails are open for public use but grooming stops.
Overall trail conditions are good to very good. All of the Main Trails have been groomed and are holding a near perfect condition. Trail 8 North of Shingleton has grooming be finished up tonight with operations then on hold. Grooming Operations will resume when weather permits. We still have a very good base overall with great late season riding conditions. Near the towns we have thin snow on trails running along the roadways. Check Fuel and Food stops if heading out. There are questions coming in with Executive Order 2020-21 and snowmobiling, per the MI DNR website all Trails remain Open following Section 7.Exceptions/a./1. of the order. (copied in the detailed report) Be Safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/23

We regret to inform everyone that between the announcement by our governor today and a week of warm weather coming up that we are ending our grooming operations for this season. That does not mean the trail is closed. It is still open until 4/1. It just means you will not see our die hard operators out on the trail until next season. Our gas stations will still be open. Our restaurants have been ceasing operations. Call ahead or check their Facebook pages to find out if they are open. We will start prepping for summer maintenance and getting ready for next season! We do have one HUGE favor to ask of all of you. When things return to normal, PLEASE visit our sponsoring businesses and thank them by buying their products, food, and gas and help get them back on their feet again so they will be there for you next season! Any little bit helps! Stay safe and thank you for the great season!

Alger County SORVA

OUR SUMMER WORKHORSE
We have been taking turns with recreation in the shop during this State issued down-time. The big project is getting our Alger SORVA owned John Deere 7130 in tip-top condition. It's #6 Injector was acting erratically so a new set of injectors have been installed and awaiting exhaust system parts to finish re-assembly. While off the hood has been polished up, grill parts hammered back into shape and painted along with a new headlight assembly installed. Now we have to polish the rest of the tractor to match what looks like a shiny new hood. The Cab Ladder was also salvaged hammering the torn and twisted lower step back into shape for welding.
We will see what the future holds as to when we are allowed to work the trails and want to be ready for mechanized brushing and grading. Stay Healthy and do your part to help this down-time pass quickly through.

Starting off the new week doesn't look like much to brag about. It'll start off with a slight chance of a rain/snow mix is tonight that will transition into a chance of rain in the north half of the UP on Monday. Another system moves through on Tuesday, bringing rain likely UP-wide and a chance of thunderstorms in the far west and south. #906wx ... See MoreSee Less
