Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/19

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/19

Currently raining and might rain pretty hard overnight. Trails will deteriorate quickly. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow. As I said before, we know everyone is doing what they need to do to stay safe and healthy through all of this. We’re just reporting trail conditions for those that want to know. Take care everyone!

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/18

We realize everyone is doing what they need to do to stay safe and healthy. We know lots of things are closed or limiting services. Please ask and we’ll do our best to get accurate info to you on businesses in our area. We just want to make sure that those that are planning to ride in our area know that we continue to groom our trails as long as it makes sense to do so. Pics from tonight from groomer Jeff on trail 8 and 480. He said there is some dampness in the tree covered areas but overall they’re in great shape. Cold temps definitely help our cause. Snow is still in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday. Thanks groomer Jeff!

Trail 889 (Mission Hill lookout) and the Raco loop are still in very good to excellent shape! Groomer Ken had a little help from his grandson. Thanks guys!

As of Monday March 23, 2020, Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association will suspend all grooming on our 100 mile trail system. Trails are smooth at this time, but temps rising in the 40's most of next week will deteriorate trails quickly. All of our volunteer groomer operators have worked hard to keep the trails in the best shape that they can.

With the rising temps, closed businesses and the health and safety of our volunteers top of mind, our 100 miles of trails will remain open to snowmobiles even though we will not be grooming.

Thank you all for riding our trail system and supporting the businesses that support the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association. We will be looking forward to the next season. The work never ends with trail maintenance, groomer maintenance and DNR grant paper work. We appreciate all of our volunteers and the land owners that allow us to have the trail system that we have.

Stay safe everyone! ❄️❄️❄️

Thank you for the great trails all season! There were some tough conditions some weeks but the trails were always way better then I thought they could be. We came up every weekend and rode 2000 amazing miles. Thank you to everyone who volunteered time to make the trails great.

We are planning on coming up Friday. Thanks for keeping the trails groomed. Watching what happens with rain tomorrow night. Trying to avoid any extra side of the road riding. What do you believe are some good routes to run to avoid the road riding? Is the Bay from the casino still crossable to get fuel at the gas station?

Heading up Friday, Munnising area.

Ofsc closed march 21

Than update this post

They are asking people to stay put and I’m confused why people are coming up riding?

So bay bills lost grooming responsibilities?

I would come up, but with bars and restaurants closed it takes some incentive out😔

Tom Brown - Susan Brown- Mason was ecstatic. Thanks Papa Ken

Did you just get snow this morning? Showed on radar you were
