Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 03/12

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 3/12

We had a little rain today that has turned into wet snow. Winds have really picked up. Trails are showing some wet spots but are still in pretty good shape. One of our groomers went out for a 100 mile ride on his sled today from Brimley out toward Trout Lake, Hulbert and Silver Creek. He said they were a little sugary later in the day but overall pretty good. Temps are dropping again tonight and are supposed to remain close to and below freezing through Sunday. Our snow is melting, roads are bare but trails still have a good amount of base to work with. They might be slushy, especially in corners and the typical wet areas. We’ll be out grooming when temps are lower. Hoping for a decent weekend on the trails!

Temps will reach near 40 degrees today with a chance of rain and snow. Groomers are reporting that all trails are in still in good condition. Please keep in mind that it doesn’t make sense to groom when it’s too warm. We will be out grooming when it makes sense to do so. Temps are supposed to drop again tonight and into the weekend. Roads and shoulders are bare from a couple of days of sun and high temps but trails are holding up well. There may be some soft spots near wet areas. As always, ride safe!
