Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/12

Snow is coming again is what the weather man says. After my nice 100 mile ride yesterday and the condition of the trails was great a little more snowfall that is predicted should bring us into only the real second weekend of riding. I found some ripply spots but not horrible bad but most of the way was really good.

Went trail 7 south where I saw both Grayling groomers going north and then took trail 47 to Lovells. Lovells to Lewiston a little ripply at the start but then great the rest of the way in. 50 miles from Frederic to Talleys where I had a great burger and then on to Vienna Corners for hot chocolate. Then on to Gaylord and back to Frederic. You couldnt ask for any better than that.

Gaylord groomers were patching a section of fence near waters but grooming was nice. Riding south from Gaylord to waters all I see is danger along that fence line they put in there. The trail is narrow and when somebody either hits the fence or another sled and gets thrown they are going to get impaled on the fence stakes they have along in there, and then thats not to mention the rocks that are mostly covered by snow now. Also a few of the wooden fence posts missing near the state park entrance. Dont know what hit them but I can guess……so be careful thru that area. Thanks for checking in and Please ride safely. Pete
