Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/12

We have been out with the groomers and been packing them. All of our trails except the few miles of extreme water issues have been hit at least once. They are still in poor condition but rideable.

UPDATE Sunday 1/12- trail 8 west of Brimley has been cleared and groomed! Thanks for all of your hard work guys!

Tools of the trade of trail blazing are heavy duty loppers and bow saws. Chainsaws come in handy for anything bigger than 3 inches in diameter, which is best for the groomer guys to handle.. So unless you're Paul Bunyan, leave the chainsaw home, you'll expend more energy lugging it around. Hand tools are the only way to go when you're traversing through deep snow and cutting brush. 😉

Making good progress on trail 49 (between 12 mi. and Gaines hwy), especially after the groomer went by yesterday afternoon. I'll be going back out after I warm up a bit and dry out. Never seen it this bad, but snowmachines are making it through now. 🙂

Sunday, 1/5: Day 3, crew of volunteers and 2 Trail Groomers working on clearing Trail 480 from Kinross going towards Raco. Only made it to the intersection of trail 472. Much more work to be done and volunteers needed!

If you’re at all able to, grab a saw and go out on the trail. It won’t be hard to find an area that needs cleanup.

A couple of guys told the groomer yesterday when they were out working on the trail that they would be back today to help and they did. So much appreciated!

Thanks for all your hard work! I helped a little

We had fun yesterday! From the Soo to Brimley was clear...beyond that, dodging the trees between Brimley and the Hulbert/Raco crossing was fun. Thank you for all that you do. Hopefully today’s storm won’t add too much weight to those trees. ❄️

We are dealing with the same heartache in soo Ontario worst we have ever seen IT

This is north of Sault Ste. Marie

Thank you for all you do to get the trails ready

An update from just west and south of us from today

Are you guys going out and cleaning at all tomorrow? I’m available to help.

Thanks for all your hard work See you in less than 2 weeks

Please post when your next clean up near raco is so we can help

Thanks for sharing Holly Nichols

Thanks for all your hard work!

Whew! I started on trail 49 from 12 mi. heading towards Gaines hwy. and I gotta say it's the worst I've ever seen it. Made it only about 1/2 mile past the gate! I'll be back on it tomorrow and Sunday. 😉

UPDATE 1/3– from the Soo out to Brimley has been cleared and groomed. Word is that west of Brimley will get worked on tomorrow. This is looking west from 6 mile after branches were cleared, right before the groomer went through this afternoon. Also got word that the trail from Kewadin through the city trails to trail 8 is good to go.

If you’re heading to Strongs and Hulbert from the Soo, here’s an update from Chippewa Snowchasers...

How’s the trails looking? Thinking of coming up for a few days

Post when you next clean up near raco is.... please

We’re out doing what we can. It’s slow going for sure. We could use more help!

This sucks, we are getting Detroit like weather the last 2 years. To live up here you must have a good generator , chain saw and a strong back!

Was this on Plantation rd (dump rd)? If so i passed u guys on atv witj chainsaw trying to clear up some trails.

Won't expect them to look any different since most of our roads still look this way

Yes they are

Not in Hearst

Brutal all our trail are screwed

Delt with that myself last night.
