MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – March 28, 2019

The last days of the season are upon us! Trail is flat and hard with some wet and soft grainy snow on top. More than enough for cooling! Road crossings are bare and some areas are starting to peek through to a little dirt. This is your last chance to ride before April 1st!

On this date (October 15) in 1966, Pictured Rocks was authorized by Congress as the first national lakeshore:
"That, in order to preserve for the benefit, inspiration, education, recreational use, and enjoyment of the public a significant portion of the diminishing shoreline of the United States and its related geographic and scientific features, the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to take appropriate action, as herein provided, to establish in the State of Michigan the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore."

Interesting.

I remember

I remember, it was amazing !

I remember that, I think it went directly over our house, about 2 blocks in from the lake in Chocolay Township. It was an absolute sheet of gray.

Sharing Trenary Northern Trails (TNT) post of our attachment swap at the MSU Chatham Farm yesterday. Working together makes all the volunteer time just a little bit easier for everyone, actually a lot easier. Thanks TNT!Did a little swap with Alger SORVA today. They are now using our brusher and we are using their box blade. When clubs work together, great things happen! Thanks for being a great neighbor Alger SORVA! ... See MoreSee Less

A deepening low pressure system moving through the Upper Great Lakes will spread rain and possibly a few thunderstorms across Upper Michigan today into tonight. Rain could become heavy at times over higher terrain of north central Upper Michigan tonight into Wednesday morning before dissipating late Wednesday. I am impressed with how the clubs around Munising work together. Keep it up. Coming your way this winter to support your sponsors $$$

Excellent great work

This collaboration is great! You guys set the standard for how clubs should work together.

Likewise TNT, it makes all the "volunteer" time just a little bit easier for everyone.

Great idea

Now if the ORV program would kick in some equipment funding dollars so expensive equipment could be shared between the programs. Only makes sense to share the cost and get more use out of the equipment. Great to see grant sponsors sharing amongst each other.

Thats how it should be, Team work !

WTG ... teamwork wins!!

Remember, if you run the tracks on asphalt, talc them for lubricant.

I won't have the chance to make this drive this year while the color is still here. 🙁 So I thought I'd share this from 3 years ago. If you want still want to catch the color this season, you'll want to be here this week & weekend.

Greatest road in the state of Michigan. Broke my heart when they paved it. We once drove H58 in a medium rain after 2 days of hard rain...in a Neon coupe. BEST TRIP EVER! Pretty sure there was still H58 dirt still in the under carriage when I sold it!

I love going north up to Mackinaw City.

Insanely gorgeous route.
