MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA –

TRAIL REPORT – Sunday March 24, 2019
WARM DAY – STILL GROOMING!
Overall very good late season trails. Saturday was a very warm day and trails were getting soft and a little choppy as the days riding progressed. Grooming still scheduled. Details here: www.algersorva.com/trailreport/3-24-2019/

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – March 23, 2019

Well, the trail is over all in great shape. With the exception of a few water holes, and tonight I found a sink hole. I fear we won’t be able to groom much longer. Temps will be warm again this coming week. The sink hole wasn’t there when I first went through, and it was the weight of the tractor that broke it free. It was a 2′ deep hole. I was able to fill it in, however there was water in the bottom and it most likely won’t hold. This will most likely be the last weekend of smooth trails from us. We will talk more about it, and may try one more time yet and see what happens. Be aware of the trail ahead of you if you go out riding this weekend as the water holes could make a great day bad. Ride right and stay safe.

With snow on the ground in most of the state I'd like to remind all you anxious sledheads out there. Trails on private property don't open until December 1st in most of the state and mid December in the U.P. The other rules regarding snowmobile use during gun season is on this flyer. ... It's just a light snow today… for most of us. The exception will be over the eastern U.P. where a band of lake-enhanced snow will lead to much higher totals. This band is expected to set up just east of Manistique, and through Newberry. #906wx ... See MoreSee Less

Wrapping Up Brushing!
Today the old 7130 will be closing out with our our last day of mechanized brushing on Trail 8 North of Shingleton so use caution if in that area. Yesterday we completed another 3 miles of mechanized brushing on Trail 8 from the Trail 419 / Wetmore intersection east to the Doty Bridge. Snow was knee deep when getting in and out of the tractor. We saw a few sleds come through (legally riding) including our DNR Field Contact doing final sign inspections. Too bad the season is still a few weeks out as it seems like we should be pulling our Dubie Groomers around.
This video is a final clean-up pass with yesterday's work.

Best trails around. Thankz for all the hard work everyone puts in ...,

So you brush the higher stuff and then make a ground pass to mulch up the fallen brush?

Another unseasonably cold night is in store for Upper Michigan tonight. Lows will range from just below zero to mid teens with the coldest readings in the Interior West. A disturbance will move across Upper Michigan Wednesday, bringing some snow showers with light accumulations expected. Winds will shift to the southwest enhancing Lake-Effect snow in the SW wind belts. Snow totals will be highest in southern Schoolcraft and Luce counties with about 6-10 inches expected but a shift in the snow bands could alter these totals, depending on where the LES bands set up. #906wx ...
