Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/07

Gaylord Bureau – 02/07

Feb. 7, 2019 – 9:32 a.m.

The Gaylord area received around 2 – 4 inches of fresh snow Tuesday night and the groomers were able to get back at it on Wednesday. Our base is at approximately 2-inches at this time and trails are in fair to good condition. We will keep you updated as trail reports come in. Keep thinking snow!

Sledheads of Frederic – 02/07

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – It’s noon on Thursday and I am not sure what to think, the weather forcast is a bit confusing, we have a winter weather advisory going on, it is kind of sleet snowing in Frederic right now and I have heard its a little more icy in Grayling. Who know what its really going to do, Conditions right now are about the same as yesterday with the same inch or two of new snow that is still out there. There is supposed to be a system snow with lake effect afterward so my thoughts are still the same as yesterday. Very Icy trails underneath with the current snow there for lubrication. My thoughts are that we will have riders this weekend but not a huge amount. It will be a lot nicer if we really get the system snow. Time will tell. ThinkSnow…….Thanks for checking in. Pete If you want to order one of our new Polar Vortex shirts use this link or pass it along to your snowmobiler friends. Thanks Pete

Jordan Valley Trails Council

As we head into prestigious weekend let’s all remember our fallen men and women of the armed services who gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country.
If you plan to recreate on your orv or sxs please respect the sections of snowmobile trail that have no orv/no wheeled vehicle signs. These areas are signed to notify that you are entering private property that is NOT open to orv use. All of our trails west of 131, including the 131 corridor are NOT open to ORV traffic. Out of alba the first roughly 2 miles south is also on private property and marked as such. Contrary to many’s opinion. The power lines in the Lakes of the North area are owned by consumers energy and is considered trespassing. Unfortunately many of the signs that were put up last fall have been ran over or stolen. All our trails south of Mancelona road are on forest roads and open to ORV use.
Please respect private land owners on all trail systems to ensure those trails remain there and hope that one day we will be able to open them up for orv use as well! There are many great mapping products out there to ensure you are on the proper trails, VVMapping is one we highly recommend!
Thank you and have a safe extended weekend!
