Michigan Trail Report

Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/31

THE GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY reports receiving 10-20″ of fresh snow across much of their system last week with 4-8″ over the weekend. The long range forecast looks like this may be one of those winters where the snow just doesn’t stop falling! Trails are in incredible shape. Remember if you see the groomers please pull to the side so the groomers can do their job.

Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay Crossing is excellent Please do not ride on side walks near Holiday and try to keep noise down in town.
Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is very good. PLEASE REMEBER TO CROSS US HWY 2 IN THE CORRECT LANE OF TRAVEL, DO NOT BLOCK HWY TURN LANES!
Wakefield to Marenisco is excellent. There is logging 3 miles east of Wakefield use caution. Logging trucks have the right away so please give them the right of way.

Trail 8 from Bingos to Tula Crossing is excellent. Bingo’s is closed and has no gas….

Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River (WI)is excellent. This is their most scenic trail and a treat to ride! Stay on the trail in the farm fields. Over 25 landowners are involved to make this trail a reality, please respect them and ride responsibly.

Trail 11S is in very good condition.. It is groomed all the way to the WI line. This 17 mile long trail has 2 stop signs and is a wilderness tour. The southern 3 miles get thinner, but remains in good condition.

Trail 11 N is closed indefinitely.

THE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS Trail Conditions: Cold temps, good snowfall and great grooming have made for very good to excellent conditions. Temps look to be in the sub zeros until the weekend when they will be in the 20’s and 30’s.
Trail 13: Good to excellent.
Trail 1 to Presque is in good condition and recently groomed.
Trail 1 N/Corridor 8: is excellent.
Trail 102 in excellent condition.
Trail 8 East excellent to good once you hit Ewen.
Trail 8 West excellent.

WATERSMEET U.P. THUNDER RIDERS report we are grooming daily.

Trail 2 west of Watersmeet – Good condition
Trail 2 east of Watersmeet- Good condition, a few thin areas
Trail 13 south to Cisco Chain- Good condition
Trail 3 south to Land O’Lakes- good/fair condition. There is lots of traffic on this trail and it’s very hard to keep smooth, use caution on bridges
Trail 3 north to Paulding/Bond Falls/Bruce Crossing- Good condition, thin icy corners

PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RUNNING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN LOSING EASMENT OF THE TRAILS AND ALSO A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.

Snowmobiling Season 2019-20 seems link it ended months ago not 2 days ago with all that's going on in our world right now.

We had a great season with some of the best conditions we've had in awhile. Then March came and the warmer temps ended our season March 3

We have a small but truly dedicated and hard-working team that spent countless hours to provide the best trails they could. Drivers and Trail Boss THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

And to all of you, thank you for your support and encouragement through the season is truly appreciated!

Thunder Riders always has projects going on throughout the year, and we encourage (need) you to get involved. We will be brushing trails throughout the Summer so let us know if you’d like to lend a hand, anytime at all! Just give us a shout right here!
Again thank you to everyone who played a part in making this season a successful!

Stay safe and well we look forward to seeing you all next year!
