Gogebic Area Grooming

Trail # 1 Update (Ethelwood Project)

Gogebic Area Grooming can not thank the volunteers enough for making it possible to clear Trail # 1. They worked hard for 2 days brushing and signing to get this opened up. We have enough snow this early in the season to make snow bridges to get across the wet and washed out areas. We are working hard with private Land Associations to get this trail open by Christmas! Here our some pictures of how bad it was. Also a Thanks to Brian with the Gogebic Lodge to help take charge on getting this accomplished.

We saw a lot of late night riders last night. Please remember we try hard to have a good looking trail for Saturday morning. Ride all night we don't care, but if the trail is soft from recent grooming, ease up!! We had to redo several sections due to 1am and later riders rode very hard on the fresh trail. We get the enticement and first ride euphoria, but help us out next time eh? ... See MoreSee Less

It's too bad there wouldn't be a way to keep mountain sleds off trails, they buy mountain sleds go to the mountains, no respect for the hard work put in to build the trails and maintain them, you don't need a 2 inch plus paddle for a trail. Alot of people with no respect

Riders, Please work with us, not against us! Our ONLY objective is to give you a great day, please help us do that!!

I'm thinking trail permits should be priced by lug height.

All, what is being asked is to respect the hard work preparing the trails and don’t rip them up regardless of sled type!

Unfortunately , There’s a lot of throttle jockeys that feel the need to tunnel out at every stop.🀦‍♂️

My 96 indy 500 doesn't rip trails but those mountain sleds do

Burns my britches when that happens...

Last but not least, don't drink and ride!!

I wouldn't count on it. Too many people who don't care what they leave behind them and couldn't care less about the next rider or all the work u guys put in to get the trails open and ready. Thanks for what you do but those dicks will never learn until the day when there are no more trails to ride.

Dan hmmm?

When we rode out west in Wyoming after dinner one night, the groomer driver stopped us and told us to get the hell off the trails til morning. He said he doesn’t groom all night for us idiots to destroy a fresh groomed trail that needs hours to set the fresh groom.

That is another reason to not & I repeat not have groomer trackers in the groomers because you get the idiots out there following the groomer & wrecking the trail. All they care about is that they have a smooth trail to ride. I think people need to take snowmobile safety refresher courses every 5 years to pound common sense riding habits , maybe then clubs would get more members. But the biggest way to get people to change their habits is peer pressure & calling the idiots out in public when they are laughing in public about their antics on the trail. The one way our club got people to slow down on our trails we got involved with the sheriff's department & have trail patrols out on our problem areas & it sure is funny how people slow down when they see the trail patrol vest out. The word spreads like wild fire from bar to bar that there is a patrol out.

Well I get the frustration but some of us like to ride at night so we can see the headlights of idiots coming on the wrong side of the trail like they do all day long. But we certainly don’t go out of our way to do holeshots and ruin the trail if we pass a groomer. Too many disrespectful jack hole kids nowadays that have never been punished. Everyone’s a winner. 😑

Groom after bar close

I remember riding on the back of your Dad's machine many years ago. He loved speed and trying to scare the s..t out of me!

Would be nice do have more law enforcement on the trails starting late in the afternoon until after bars close take all the drunks to jail also seen yesterday or somebody had drink beer on the trail through the cans down they need to have a zero tolerance for alcohol level anyone caught with alcohol on their breath it's a drunk driving ticket goes to jail this would stop a lot of BS also need to see if there high also !!

It’s probably the same type of people that trespass on private and ride right by no snowmobiling signs and piss off landowners, be the first ones bitch about the trails and grooming yet will they will never join a club and see what its take to setup and maintain a trail then clubs loses permission from landowners and trails get closed or rerouted to a shitter spot and they bitch about that to.
