Ontonagon Trail Report – 01/09

Trail Update – We got 10-12" so far with this storm and it’s still coming down. We had whiteout conditions last night, so not much trail got groomed.

Mac is headed out in the New Holland now on Trail 1 from the intersection at Trail 12 to Silver City and then to assess the trail between Silver City and The Porkies Ski Hill. Please ride with caution in this area and give right of way to the groomer!

Trail Update:

Sorry to say it Sledheads but the local clubs including NCSC are probably finished grooming for the season.

Machines from NCSC, GAG, and Superior Clubs were all stuck yesterday.

Riders were reporting good trails but water and soft spots have stopped the Groomer's.

Weather forecast is for 40's during the day and 30's at night, no good for grooming.

Be careful out there! Trails don't officially close until March 31st.

Thanks for a great season and THANK YOU FOR RIDING DA 906!!!

Trail 13 has a river going over it now. You can cross it but it’s definitely 50 feet long

Tail Alert - we just drove along Trail 12 between Ontonagon and Greenland. The county is pushing back the snowbanks onto the trail. You should be able to ride further up along the fenceline, but we may not be able to groom it. ... See MoreSee Less

Didn't mean to fan any flames, crew. Just an informational post. We were driving to an MSA meeting downstate and didn't know how far they would plow over. We wish they could find a better alternative, but they are doing their job and keeping the roads clear.

Ok people calm your jets! We’re talking a couple hundred feet of trail, in a few areas that run along state highways, where water was running over said highways. And with heavy snowfall today, was creating very hazardous roadways. The Ontonagon County Road Commission was/is doing their best to make these roadways safe. Which is the most important thing!

Well the roads are a little more important than the snow mobile trails, I know that comment will trigger some people

Probably the same guy that plows the road trails down to the concrete and thinks he is cool!

the banks are shoved back, to allow the water to flow in the ditch... loosing a few portions of trail is preferable to loosing a road to flooding.

Seems like an informational post . Didn't read any complaining in it at all. What's wrong with some of you?

These comments are awesome

Really can’t f-ing wait two weeks. Smh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Oh my goodness people are ignorant. In your eyes the trail is more important than the people who are at risk driving on the road? Seriously?!?

That’s why we pay registration fees for our snowmobiles right?

If you saw why they push the banks back you would understand. They need it to have it pushed back for the thaw. Fields here are full of water already.

The roads are flooding everywhere

Someone needs to explain to them how much money the snowmobile community brings to the area

Well that was nice of them...

Pushing up da boanks

It’s gonna rain

Perfect

Extra snow
