Michigan Trail Report

Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 12/05

The Lake Effect forecast has improved today, thankfully. Trail 160 remains closed at this time, we hope to be able to open all the gates by the weekend, but if you encounter a closed gate TURN AROUND.

We will be cleaning up road approaches today through the tri-city area and rolling out Trail 8 this evening. Early season conditions still exist with much water flowing. We are seeing riders on the rail-trail from Ramsay to Ironwood nightly, however.

It seems like the extensive drainage & trail work the club has done over the last 3 years on the rail-trail has improved low-snow riding conditions. We’re still listing trails in poor condition but we expect a better report by tomorrow and Friday. There’s a warm up on the horizon which will effect trails, but we’ll see what things look like at that time.
