Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 04/19

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupps Resort – Good morning Kruppers!
Well this is it!
Looks like the snows have settled/melted pretty fast!
Forecast is looking more seasonal coming up!
This weekend will be about 50 so I’ll be riding in perfect conditions!
Looking past the weekend the weather is calling for almost 60 degrees!
I’m pretty sure if you want to ride after this weekend you might have to trailer to a shady spot and stay on the non sun facing hills!
I still think I’ll get a May ride in but I really feel it’s going to go fast!
The sun has a lot of power now and it stays light till 8pm or later so things will go down hill in a hurry!
If you remember a few posts back I said when it gets to upper 50’s and 60’s it really kills snow FAST and that’s what it looks like after this coming weekend!
Today through The weekend I would say would be great off trail riding!
After that……. I don’t know!
The creeks waterfalls and rivers should start flowing big time!
My favorite riding times!
There’s a ton of snow to play in right now and that 3-4 feet of HARD base will finally soften up along with this last 21” we officially got from this last storm things should be perfect for ME!
I’m sharing a comparison pic from live now to the peak depth it was after the storm!
Have a great day!

Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula

Updated maps showing the trail closures for the season - please also see the pinned post at the top of this fb page. There are still miles and miles of beautiful trails to ride!

In addition to the trails shown in these photos, the Valley Sno Drifters will be opening both of their club trails. The trail to Dreamland Restaurant & Bar will start in Dollar Bay right off of Trail 3 before it is closed off. The Dreamland trail will then run from Dreamland to Lake Linden and Dreamland to Gay...... so this gives alternate routes for making your way north to Copper Harbor out of Houghton/Hancock. The other option for heading up to Copper Harbor (and all the stops along the way) is Trail 17 out of Houghton/Hancock. The opening of both Dreamland trails will be a great addition to riding Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula
