Grand Marais Trail Report – 04/01

Hey all you sledheads, bubbleheads, trail hounds, and boondockers, just wanted to say Thank you all for your support, kind words, and thoughtful advice.

As of today, Easter Sunday, the grooming season has ended. It doesn’t mean our trails are closed. Our trails run across State land, Timber Co. land, and a few private property owners. None of our trails have gates or chains across them. Ride with respect and their shouldn’t be any problems.

Due to it being a holiday and a Sunday, there will be no grooming extensions announced today. If that changes, and it won’t today, we will let you know.

Thanks again for you support, it means a lot to our operators to get waves and thumbs up as you pass. We appreciate it!

Happy Easter!
God is good!

Groomer Report:

Did a late run north on trails 8, 888 and 88. Not a lot of traffic so trails were pretty good to start. They're all nice, flat and ready for ridin. Stay safe and have fun.

Going to be another great way to see and experience the Pictures Rocks. We have laid the keel in less than 90 days into the construction of the new 64' x 19' aluminum vessel for Pictured Rocks Kayaking. The new vessel will be eight feet longer with a six foot swim deck, and will be able to accommodate twice the number of existing passengers and kayaks. Additionally, this boat will bring efficiency to the water as it will run nearly one and a half times faster than the current vessel.

The vessel is now expected to be completed and delivered by the summer of 2019, given the tremendous efforts and production efficiencies from both Moran iron Works and Pictured Rocks Kayaking.

“We have planned on this vessel for a couple of years, and wanted Moran Iron Works to build it for us. They represent exactly what we are about: quality, efficiency, and just a good company to work with. We look forward to seeing the vessel on Lake Superior taking out our guests to a world class experience,” states Madigan.

I can't think of a better place for a snowmobile trip than da UPSnowmobile Trip Anyone?

Old Man Winter has gone purely insane in pure Michigan! We all know northern Michigan gets a lot of snow, but this is extreme. There is already 4 feet of snow on the ground in the UP and that snow pack has 9 inches of water in it. Early this month the UP had a major ice storm which was followed by a blizzard a couple days later. Well Mother Nature isn't done yet. Another 2+ feet of snow is likely in the next 2 weeks. By March 1st, the snow could stand taller than an average human in spots.
