Ironwood Trail Report – 02/11

Here’s a brief trail report:
-Still a groomer down hoping to get a rental rig in this week, Tucker Sno-Cat and operators are grooming around the clock so be cautious as we are having to day groom to keep up. Trails are good condition. Will need fresh snow soon as we’re working 2 week old snow
– Video is of Trail 8 after tonight’s groom, was hit Fri/Sat night too, rated good to excellent
-Trail 160 groomed Friday, hoping to groom tomorrow, rated good to excellent
-Trail 2 from Wakefield to Marenisco groomed Saturday evening, good condition
– Trail 11S groomed Saturday afternoon, rated good to excellent
– Ski hills between Bessemer/Wakefield being groomed tonight, trail is very icy and thin in spots, rated marginal. Hoping to push some snow down onto it this week, western Indianhead climb is icy
– Ironwood to Ramsay groomed this afternoon and will be again 4am tomorrow, rated good to excellent

Thank you to all our groomer operators who Volunteer their time! The club is logging serious miles this season!

Kippis!

Updated Trail report:
msasnow.org/trail-reports/grta/
Groomer VOLUNTEER OPERATOR Steve G. took this video grooming trail 2 from Blackjack Road east to Indianhead Mountain late last Friday night. This section is often the roughest by 3pm Saturday and it starts every Saturday looking like this! We had both groomers go down this weekend, but only for a few hours due to excellent teamwork and urgency by GRTA volunteers. Still we got behind and the ridiculous amounts of snow make the task of getting them flat...and keeping them flat...very difficult. Several rounds of snow forecast this week, start planning your backpack interstate snowmobile trip! Conditions like this don't come around often and as GRTA Club Member "Tinger" says, "Ride like it's going to be 60 degrees tomorrow!!" #groomeroperatorsneeded #volunteertoday #snowmobile #trail #riding #gosnowmobiling #thinksnow #westerngateway #up

Way to go St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club! The buildings up here in big snow country are built for snow like this, but this season has been one for the books. Way to not miss a beat!! Well done!! #sledclubsrock #volunteersYou may have heard about the roof collapse at The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club's Groomer Barn. Here are a few pictures to confirm the rumors.

We're proud to announce that, like The Phoenix The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club will not miss one night of grooming!

We'll be grooming EVERY night through next Sunday night. (February 24th)

So gas up your trucks and sleds and get up here to enjoy the excellent trails here in God's Country.

Huge shout out to GRTA Board member Calvin K., Groomer operator Steve G and Groomer operator Scott of club sponsor Sasquatch Lodge Vacation Rental for getting our Tucker issue figured out. We are 1,000 miles ahead of last season (conservatively) at this point and the front turning/glide puck wore out. We were able to flip it to run this weekend where it'll be replaced next week. A couple of tubes of grease to get it lubed back up and we are out running! Snowing like crazy today! ... See MoreSee Less

Our only sponsor on Lake Gogebic AJ's Walleye Lodge had a cancellation (What?!) and has a room open. The owners are heavily involved with clubs and Mary Beth even serves as our Secretary! Go support the best place on the lake! #lakegogebic #snowmobile #vacancyI can't even believe we have a cancellation with these great conditions - but we do! The Walleye is open for the weekend and this suite can sleep 7! Give a call if you are interested: 906-575-3557! ... See MoreSee Less
