Ironwood Trail Report – 02/10

Please be alert today on trail 2 and 11S as we are day grooming. Due to our 2nd groomer still being broke down we have to groom our 95miles of trail non-stop, which means during the day we must run.

Operator Robert G. is just finishing up lunch at Earla’s in Marenisco. He is bringing the Tucker back to trail 11S/2 intersection where GRTA president Steve will groom 11S down and back. From there he’ll head back to Wakefield for fuel and hopefully an operator change and we’ll groom trail 8 again. Then back West to Hurley!

We get the question often, where should we buy our trail permits? Online? Through the mail? NEITHER! Buy your trail permits at the local gas stations where you are staying or riding. This way it helps show the MDNR where riders are riding and staying to help in the decision making on funding. Don't waste time buying your permit with special interest groups, visit Holiday Stationstores Ironwood, MI, Cloverland Motorsports Ironwood, MI, US 2 Service Center Ironwood, MI or Stemphiar Gas Station Bessemer, MI. Buying local lets the businesses know just how big of an impact us sledders have plus the majority of the permit funds go right to the program! It's the best route for sledders! #buyMIpermitslocally #dontbuyonline ... See MoreSee Less

My issue with buying them local is then we have to stick them in the cold trailer they tend to not stick the best

Always buy mine local. Wish we still could in Wisconsin, but the state took that away.

I don’t mind buying them local as long as they are the good stickers not the ones they print out with the hunting license machine?

Got mine at the Holiday in Wakefield... Easy as can be

The GRTA Volunteers were out at it again today putting signs up on Trail 160 that runs from Ironwood, MI to the furthest western point in Michigan! Please know we don't place stay on trail signs everywhere, they are placed in areas where we have had complaints from landowners. It is critical to know on trail 160 we have 25 different private landowners who allow us to mark a trail through their property, please stay on the marked trail! Thank you to Joe, Deb & Greg for signing today and hiking out into the fields as ORV/SMB use is currently restricted for Deer Season. #allvolunteer #trail160 #GRTA ... See MoreSee Less

Like to see the sleds come through our field on the trail. Don't like when they do laps and jumps off the trail. We have rock piles and old barb wire fences. Just don't want any accidents so thank you to all who obey the signs and ride safe.

Thank you volunteers and landowners.....

Thank you hope to visit your trails soon

Thank you Land owners and volunteers!
