Ironwood Trail Report – 01/11

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – We’ve seen the forecast shift the highest snow totals slightly east of us, but still calling for 8-12" plus lake effect.

We are actively grooming, please ride cautiously as our groomers are not that agile and cannot make evasive maneuvers to dodge you, as surprising as that may be.

We’re waiting for the heavy snow to turn on this afternoon, but we were lucky Heikki Lunta spared us the heavy rains. We did see some rain/freezing rain, but nothing crazy. Watch the radar and we’ll get some pics up tonight! Join the club! $25.

We are so proud of our club for opening 40 miles of trail for this season. It took hundreds and hundreds of volunteer hours to make it happen and we're so glad our good friends at Snowball Cancer (Based out of Ironwood, MI) took video of one of the reopened trails. This trail has spectacular views that should not be missed! The property this video was shot on was nearly lost this week due to illegal off trail riding. We are greatful to all the landowners who make this trail possible, you are sharing a real piece of heaven with the snowmobile riding public. If are looking for a great non-profit to support, check out Snowball cancer! #trail160 #gogebiccountyforest #bigsnowcountry

Alert! We have a broken down sled on Trail 2 in Ironwood, MI one block west of Lake road. If this is your sled you need to get it off the trail ASAP as it is a huge hazard sitting on this rail bed. Due to no recent registration we are alerting Ironwood Public Safety Department. We have moved the machine further off the trail but the hazard remains. Thanks Steven Gerszewski our groomer operator for the quick relay of the danger! ... See MoreSee Less

Not yours! We got hammered and drove yours off a cliff into a river idiot remember!

Is this the new prototype cat we've been hearing about 😆

I hope someone picked it up and junked it. A 100$ sled sitting on a major grade is not worth someone’s life.

I would put it on the drag and drop it of with the cops on the road edge let the police 👮‍♀️ deal with it

Probably stolen out of someones cabin to begin with and ran out of fuel.

Steven Gerrish found ur sled

Just gotta send it........to the scrap yard!

Tow it to the BONE yard

haha pasted it

Jimmers lives in Bessemer somewhere

Yah that was abandoned....lol

Matt Mcmanus that's my sled. Why is it parked there?? You drunken fools!!! PM me asap!

Noah Balk this yours?

Jed Munstenteiger found your sled!

Gary Swanson is this yours

Set that pos on fire

We have been out in force for 24/7 since the Temps started dropping Wednesday.. Thanks to our volunteers who have made the trails the best. Todays PICS compliments of Robert G of Team Steve and Robert, LOL who set out very early on Trail 2 and onto Trail 11S to make sure all had a safe fun ride. Pics of Hoar Frost on the Tucker Drive Shaft and the Perfect Groom. Our Groomers have run none stop and are still out. Please watch for them, ride safe and in control and give our President Steve Hamilton on Trail 2 in the Tucker and Robert on Trail 8 in the T7 a big thumbs up for taking the later shift. ... Thanks Terry S., for the Hurley to Bessemer run today. Sure did help.

Great job GRTA. 👍 I used to have a cabin in Lando for 15 years so I haven’t made it to Gogebic as much as I would like to recently but I know you guys work your asses off with what you’ve got. Don’t let all the whiners get you down I know you have one of the best clubs in the U.P. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys. We are on our way home from an EXCELLENT snowmobile trip that included riding on some of your trails. Most trails were very good. 160 was awesome.

Thank you guys! Seeing these pics gets us more and more excited to come braap next week ❄️

Thank you!!
