Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 03/18

March 18, 2017

32 degrees this morning and cloudy. Looks like we picked up 3-4 inches of wet heavy snow last night too. So here`s what went on yesterday UP here in da north woods…..

The Falls trail and the Stump trail were run. Both turned out OK, in fact, I`ll call them good for this time of year. We are running ALL trails today, this includes the south trail #8 from the river mouth south. We can`t get a groomer in the swamp just south of town though. The trails are fading fast too. You will hit bare spots and the dirt roads that are plowed are down to mud again. Me thinks this will be the last weekend looking at the weather….but who knows…..we`ll probably get another 2 foot by the end of the month with the way this season has gone. All I got fer ya today. Groomer Chris

Zero degrees this morning and partly cloudy. It was below zero all night last night and we got just a dusting of snow. It snowed most of the day yesterday but didn`t amount to much.....maybe 2 inches max. I`ve had quite a few calls lately asking how much snow we have on the ground, its anywhere from 2.5 to 3 foot, depending on where you are at, so plenty! The weather guessers are all over the map as far as whats gonna happen the next few days. Some say an inch or two and some say 4-5 inches but it looks like the temps will be around 30ish for highs.....so its all good for this weekend. Now, on to the trails......

Groomer Dave M. ran the South trail #8 yesterday and called it fair. He`s gonna run it again today as far as I know. The swamp south of town is holding up but its really icey. If we get this snow they are talking about that will help alot.

Groomer Kevin ran the Falls trail last night and called it good. He`s runnin the Point Trails this morning also.

All I know for today. LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!

You really think trails going hold up with theses temps

Hopefully that is wrong. Just checked the weather channel they show 2 days next week 39, all the rest are under freezing.

We just left Paradise yesterday. It was above freezing during the day but also cloudy. I’ve seen a sunny mid-20’s day do a lot more damage. The swamp is rough. If you are in Paradise stick to the Point, the falls and the stump. Lots and lots of snow out that way.

19 degrees this morning and snowing pretty good out der with those big white fluffy flakes. Got about an inch of fluff on my deck this morning.

Groomer Mike ran the Pine Stump trail #8 last night with the new machine. He texted me and called it good and didn`t report any problems with the machine.

Groomer Larry ran the Falls trail #45 last night and I talked to him this morning and he called that trail good.

Groomer Kevin ran the Point Trails #452 and #453 and called them good.

Today we are runnin the South trail #8 and the Falls trail again to the best of my knowledge.

We are still waiting for the injector pump to get our third machine up and running.

All I know for today. LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!

20 degrees this morning and quite windy right outa the East. We got a little snow/freezing drizzle last night but its hard to tell how much cause of the wind. The trees have a little shine on them but nothing serious. It looks like the weather is gonna behave for us UP here. They are saying highs around 30 and lows at night in the teens with some scattered snow so this coming weekend should be ok.....but you know me and trusting the weather guessers......we`ll see.

The only run to go out yesterday was Groomer Scott on the Falls. He called it good but we sure could use a little more snow. The snow on the trails now is gettin pretty worked over.

The tech for the new machine was out yesterday (again) and found a lose wiring harness. He tightened that up and took it out for an hour and everything seems ok now. Groomer Mike is hittin the Stump trail today and we`ll see what happens.

Thats all I know for today. Stay tuned.

Went out to the Point this morning then out to the falls. The trails were great. The 452/453 loop was still great this afternoon. Thanks for doing your best. The family had a fantastic time.

34 degrees this morning and cloudy. It did get below freezing last night and we got a heavy dusting of snow. I know the weather guessers are calling for rain down below the next couple days, but for UP here they are saying 3-6 inches of heavy wet snow.....we`ll see what happens. Here`s what went on yesterday on our trails.....

Groomer Jack ran the South trail #8. He called it fair to good. The swamp south of town had a soft spot open up but he got it filled in. I`ve said this before, slow down in there and watch for soft spots. Once he got back to the barn and fueled up he still felt ambitious so he ran the Falls trail too. Thats 14 hrs. total in the seat!!! He rated the Falls trail as good. I think he`s earning himself a new nick name.....iron butt. LOL

Groomer Gerald headed out for Pine Stump but the machine (new one) started acting up on him again so he turned around about an hour in. We called the company and they sent a tech down last night. He is out there right now working on it.......and so the saga continues.

Not sure whats up for today but stay tuned.

Tell them to take that piece of shit lemon back with them the next time they come out. All I have read was problems about that machine. I'd be talking to somebody that is for sure

We rode Friday-Sunday this past weekend and your trails were great! There wasn't a ride that we didn't see atleast 2 groomers out... you all were putting in the hours! Thanks for all of your hard work! My family had a blast!!

Coming up from Ohio Saturday evening through Tuesday. Any places or cabins allow pets that you know of? I'm a newbie to the UP but my father has been once.
