Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 01/11

Greetings Sledders,

We had another great weekend of riding out of here and the surrounding motels with several riders commenting on trail grooming improvements in a nearby area that shall go unnamed in this report. Suffice it to say that it’s good to here about improved conditions instead of the complaints that we’ve been accustomed to hearing over the years.

We got a general 4-6″ of snow yesterday followed by rain. Fortunately we got the snow upfront otherwise I’m afraid we’d be in trouble in certain segments of our trails, namely trail 7 south of 72.

We are grooming today and the guys tell me that everything is coming out pretty good with the usual heavier snow and more favorable conditions the further north you go. Don’t get me wrong, south of 72 is rideable and okay it’s just thinner than the northern segments. Typical. Not sad. Okay. Reasonable. My God I should be tweeting.

I’m told that they haven’t been hitting any standing water but there are some icy conditions and I’m sure that there are some icy corners as well so please be advised.

Our grooming is on schedule and I’m rating the trails once again as fair to good.

Based on the long range forecast it looks like next week could hold some temperature surprises and very little snow.

I will be out of town Mon thru Wed of next week so this will be the last report till next Thurs., unless something major comes up in the next few days.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls
