Cadillac Area Trail Report – Visit Cadillac – 01/06

January 6, 2017 – via Coyote Crossing

A few shots just taken at 5pm today to show you the snow! We have gotten another 1-2′ of powder today. Should be good for the Coyote Cup Kids Race next Saturday, Jan. 14th!
Pete’s trail update from last night …
‘Main trails(37,6) in Cadillac system continue to be good.. Tight areas are thin, but still decent. Hard base should keep things from getting rough until we get more fresh snow. County plows continue to scrape to ground on many roads, which makes some town access a little sketchy. Bitter cold temps today and tonight, around 1 deg. right now. Overall, I think we can all have fun in the area this weekend, but conditions are still early-season like. Haven’t heard much about surrounding areas, but my guess is that as you ride north of Coyote, snow is likely to be better? Forecast is calling for some snow most every day this weekend.. THINK SNOW! Pete’
… and the groomers have started grooming again!

January 5, 2017 – VIA CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS

Trail Conditions: Poor to Fair

The snow gauge just west of Cadillac is showing a 2-3 inch increase in snow over the last couple of days. There has been so much wind blowing the light snow around it is really hard to tell how much snow has fallen. I haven’t had a report from the national forest area or northern part of the system yet. They may have gotten more snow. Keep an eye out for groomers as they will be grooming areas as needed. Also be aware there may be ice on the trail where you least expect it.

January 2, 2017

Due to the warm-up today, grooming operations have halted until further notice. Colder temperatures are due later in the week and hopefully they will bring more snow.

January 1, 2017 — HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Our Trail Coordinator reporting in this morning said the trails are in GOOD to FAIR condition. The forest roads are GOOD with the narrower portions of the trail system not holding up as well. He also indicated there is an ice base so be careful.
