Michigan Trail Report

Antrim County Trail Report – Jordan Valley Trails Council – 12/11

UPDATE: Today (Sunday) groomer Frank attempted to groom the Jordan Valley loop.

Unfortunately he didn’t make it far before he realized it wasn’t beneficial to the trail to continue on after talking to a few groups of snowmobiles on the trail.

The trail is fairly covered with snow with a brown patch here and there but it is VERY thin. Monday we will attempt to groom the southern portion (Mancelona, Lakes of the North, Starvation Lake) of our trails as they received much more snowfall than the northern counterparts.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Jordan Valley Trails Council

As we head into prestigious weekend let’s all remember our fallen men and women of the armed services who gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country.
If you plan to recreate on your orv or sxs please respect the sections of snowmobile trail that have no orv/no wheeled vehicle signs. These areas are signed to notify that you are entering private property that is NOT open to orv use. All of our trails west of 131, including the 131 corridor are NOT open to ORV traffic. Out of alba the first roughly 2 miles south is also on private property and marked as such. Contrary to many’s opinion. The power lines in the Lakes of the North area are owned by consumers energy and is considered trespassing. Unfortunately many of the signs that were put up last fall have been ran over or stolen. All our trails south of Mancelona road are on forest roads and open to ORV use.
Please respect private land owners on all trail systems to ensure those trails remain there and hope that one day we will be able to open them up for orv use as well! There are many great mapping products out there to ensure you are on the proper trails, VVMapping is one we highly recommend!
Thank you and have a safe extended weekend!
