Munising Area Trail Report – 03/09

TRAIL REPORT: 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9

Temp 45 degrees.
Grooming operations have been suspended.

As of this morning the main trails are fair to good condition. The trails in the hills around Munising are overall poor to fair. Trails along the roadways and at intersections are poor and very sandy. Trails also have some large areas of standing water.

Heavy rain and warm winds yesterday have taken 2 feet off the snow pack. Thursday’s forecast calling for low 30’s but still no snow. Remainder of the 10 day forecast is showing 50’s each day so our trail recovery outlook is not looking too favorable.

For you backpackers the woods are still holding out with many trailering over to the Kingston Plains too.

* Trail 8 is in fair to good condition, mainly flat with some moguls East.
* Trail 419 from Trail 8 North all the way to Christmas it is fair to poor to fair with wet corners and some moguls. West Bay Spur is fair to good.
*Trail 7 from Christmas South to the Trail 8 intersection is fair to poor to fair, wet corners and some moguls.
*Trail 422 to Miner’s Castle is fair to good, again wet corners and some moguls.
*Trail 7 South to CR440 is fair with moguls.

Enjoy your riding and be safe!
