•More than a foot of snow for the UP and/or far northern lower Michigan
•Significant icing that may impact the power grid
•Wind gusts that could top 45mph
•Blizzard conditions
We plan to release our first call snow/ice/wind maps for this event later this afternoon. We encourage you to begin preparations as this event could be our biggest winter storm we’ve seen in quite some time. Stay tuned for further details. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyA second, more significant winter storm is coming Sunday into Monday, and it still looks like a whopper. A quick hitting, strong clipper continues to bring widespread moderate to heavy snow and high winds to the area this morning. After a brief lull in snow around daybreak, an increase in northerly winds and lake effect snow will return hazardous conditions to the north winds snowbelts this early afternoon.
Our attention then turns to a major winter storm set to impact the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes region this weekend into early next week. Confidence is continuing to grow regarding significant snowfall accumulations (potentially record breaking) and blizzard conditions that may result in widespread impacts.
Please view this morning's informational briefing at the link below for additional details on both today's and this weekend's storm systems.

Round Two of a stretch of impactful winter weather is set to return tonight through Friday in the form of a quick hitting but strong clipper.

Additionally, confidence continues to grow regarding a major winter storm for the Upper Great Lakes region Saturday night through Monday, potentially rivaling the most recent December 28-29, 2025 blizzard event. The last storm didn’t pan out as they say. We got a few inches of snow
Another warning for tonight we will see
The groomers have been out. The few riders that were out yesterday came all the way from shingleton and said trails were good
With a little fresh snow and the groomers out I believe this will be a good weekend to ride. If the storms pan out to higher amounts things will be really good
Next week looks good as well
If you can get away here’s your last chance for about 9 months #newberry #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
19 degrees this morning under a bright blue sky. Well......the weather guessers got us again. We were under a winter storm warning yesterday. "They" were saying 8" plus. I got about an inch here at my place with a touch of freezing rain....bummer. "They" are saying another big one tomorrow.....we`ll see. At least they are gettin the temps right. It is supposed to stay on the cooler side for the next week or so. Here`s what we got going on for the trails........
After our meeting we decided on going on what the weather lets us do. The warm up into the 50`s really hurt our low land trails. The main news is we are done on the Falls trail #45. It is still open to ride but if we try to groom it we will break it up and it will not be even ridable. Please understand we are rolling about 7 tons down the trail. The swamp section south of town is also done, same thing as the Falls trail, it is still ridable but we don`t want it to break up or even take a chance of sinking a groomer. This being said, here`s what we did yesterday.....
Groomer Dave ran the South trail #8, skipping the swamp of course. He said it turned out good with just a little water on top of the trail on the south end of the power line.
Groomer Glenn ran the Point trails #452 & #453. He said they turned out good and are still solid.
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and said there is some water on top of the trail in spots and the base is really thin in spots too but all in all in good shape.....think late season riding on all 3 sections.
There is still plenty of snow in da woods to play around on but the trails took a good hit with the warmer weather. If you`re thinking about coming U.P. for one last ride.....DO IT!!!!!!!! Its winding down fast folks.

What a way to start the day! We woke up to a beautiful sunrise and fresh snow on the ground ❄️
Even better… more snow is on the way and the groomers have been out running! 🛷💨

This picture is one of the pesky water holes on the pipeline between Curtis to Naubinway, overall the trail is in good condition but except late season riding. We do have a good amount of snow and cold in the forecast for the next week so hopefully we can get the trails back to excellent condition for the last couple of weeks of the season! #curtis #newberry #snowphotosBoth groomers were out last night and from Curtis to Newberry turned out good but expect some icy conditions.

There are a few thin spots on H58 on the town loop, but we have been moving snow inward to cover those spots. We still have a lot of snow to work with, again its sugary so it is not packing in solid. The forcated snowfall will be welcomed, thats for sure. As long as temps remain good, we plan on regularly scheduled grooming of all the trails. Enjoy the crazy 8's, ride right and as always, ride safe..

After a brief lull this early morning, widespread snowfall fills in by mid morning, then tapers off from west to east this afternoon. Moderate to heavy snowfall rates are possible this morning into the early afternoon, heaviest over northern Marquette county.

Just made it to Windy Corners and they’re already back out heading north.
