We had rain and ice earlier this week, but have a new dusting of snow right now. Although conditions are poor, there are lots of flurries in the forecast! Winter’s not over yet, we’ll keep you updated on weather conditions as we head into the weekend.
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in some locations. Logging is taking place on the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to keep the trails smooth in these areas.
Check out a live view of trail # 7 here.
A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert. – Always ride on the right side of the trail. – Ride safe and ride sober.

It’s a cloudy 44 degrees out with lots of mud everywhere. Snow has been on meltdown mode and there is still ice and mush around but I think it really is done now. If we do manage to get a storm it will only be good for the first few on it. I was out by Bear Lake yesterday and took a pic of the groomer setting there in the mud. Other pics are just outside of Sledheads here. Thank you to everyone that stopped by here this winter. That was round 29 so next season will be 30 winters with many of them only so so winters. Still fun, just some times more fun than others. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Northern Michigan, we know you’re interested in this weekend’s forecast. Here is the latest: A major winter storm is likely to impact the state Sunday into Monday. Yes, this does include the potential for 12”+ of snow for some areas and heavy icing for others. That said, there is still high uncertainty in specific snowfall/icing amounts and the location of where these highest amounts may end up since we’re still several days away. Significant changes in forecast impacts for specific locations are still possible at this time range. Because of this, caution should be used when looking at detailed forecast amounts several days in advance. We are monitoring this upcoming storm closely and will be providing forecast updates as confidence in impacts across the area increases. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyNorthern Michigan, we know you’re interested in this weekend’s forecast.
