A brief break Tuesday afternoon will be followed by more light to moderate snow Tuesday evening through Wednesday. Carter was out brushing part of Trail 160 yesterday, (3.10.2026) and after further inspection of Trail 160 and Trail 11s this afternoon by Charlie & Joe, both trails have quite a few water holes surfacing.’Hard to say how the water is flowing under the surface. Trial 8 also has water flowing on the trail.
We know everyone wants to get that “one last” ride in for the year, but at this point it maybe not be worth the risk. We understand everyone will ride during different trail conditions. What I call excellent or poor trails conditions, the next person may say otherwise, and so on.
For the time being, the only trail that will be getting groomed, (granted things stay the way they do), is Trail 2 from Ironwood to Marenisco.
Our main priority is keeping everyone safe.
We hope to see you this Saturday, March 14, 2026 for our Cure for Cabin Fever event.
AJ's Lodge and Oven is still having their Yooper Poker Run whether your on your sled or in your vehicle, don’t forget to stop by VFW Post 3673 Bessemer, MI to get your card punched.
Thank you to Longhini Property Management and General Insurance Agency for your donation towards our event!

After a brief lull this early morning, widespread snowfall fills in by mid morning, then tapers off from west to east this afternoon. Moderate to heavy snowfall rates are possible this morning into the early afternoon, heaviest over northern Marquette county.

We received around 2 to 3" overnight which for the most part melted off by the end of the day.
After 7 days of mid 40°s and bluebird skys. The runoff has begun.
8w to Wakefield is not groomable.
1n was run on Saturday, that machine broke through the ice on our hard pack.
Our feeder trail to the corridor is almost underwater as well.
As I write this it's currently snowing with 4 to 5" so far. Temp is 24° with a low of 17°
If we groom it will be limited.
We would appreciate any feedback on what you guy's are seeing on the trail's, any hazards etc.. Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup ... See MoreSee Less
🌨️ Here’s the view at 8 pm Central Time Tuesday night from the south end of the lake at the Gogebic Lodge.
🌨️ The temperature has dropped to 27 degrees and snow is falling steady.
🌨️ We are due to get up to 8 inches of snow by 2 pm Wednesday.
🌨️ More snow with significant accumulation is in the forecast for Friday and Sunday.
🌨️ So… did we ride to the lodge?! We did not. We left the sleds indoors because on this Tuesday night, the lake needs tonight’s round to freshen up the lake’s surface.
🌨️ I DO anticipate riding my sled Friday night… sources say there’s a cook over at the Hoop… my husband… just sayin’ 🍔🥪🍕🍟 #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

Forecasts are calling for up to a foot and a half of fresh snow between Wednesday and Sunday, which in true Upper Peninsula fashion means two things:
1. Mother Nature isn’t done yet.
2. The snowmobiles might be getting one more victory lap. 🏁
So go ahead and dust off those sleds, find that hat you already packed away, and get ready for what could be some epic late-season riding. Fresh snow, quiet trails, and that beautiful Lake Superior winter backdrop we all love.
Around here we call this “False Spring: Upper Peninsula Edition.”
Winter isn’t leaving… it just stepped outside for a minute. 😉 #ontonagon #westernup ... See MoreSee Less

Carter groomed Trail 2 from Hurley to Old US 2 Wakefield.
Riders please use caution as there are wet spots.
We will see what Mother Nature brings this week. Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday. #ironwood #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
Well, we’re almost through the one-week warm-up and honestly…it wasn’t nearly as bad as originally projected. 👍
The big win? No rain. Temperatures also didn’t get nearly as high as the forecasts were calling for, so the snowmobile trails held up far better than expected and were not destroyed.
Even better news: cold weather returns Tuesday, along with about a half foot of fresh snow in the forecast. ❄️ The groomers will be back out and working their magic as soon as conditions allow.
With the massive snow base we still have, there will absolutely be great riding available for the coming weeks. Late season riding in the Western U.P. is often some of the best of the year.
If you want to experience some epic late-season riding, now is the time to make the trip to the Western U.P. and the Porcupine Mountains / Ontonagon area. #ontonagon #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less
