Another system passing to the north will then bring a slight chance of rain/snow late tonight, mainly in the west and north-central UP. Morning fog and drizzle are possible with increasing chances for showers this afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible. Additional showers and a few thunderstorms are expected overnight. Warmer than normal temps continue today in the 30s to mid 40s. Drizzle and or freezing drizzle is possible this morning in the far west and Keweenaw (20% chance). Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
