HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> 03/07 ❄️ Trail Update ❄️ As of yesterday morning, the trails were holding up fairly well despite the warm weather throughout the week. The grade in front of the airport was beginning to show some bare spots, along with sections of the Alanson trail where the logging operation took place. Rain started early yesterday afternoon and is expected to continue for a few more hours, which unfortunately won’t help trail conditions. Additional showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected tonight into early Saturday. Some of these storms may be strong with locally damaging wind gusts and large hail. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
