Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/20
Gaylord Bureau – February 20, 2026 8:55 a.m Temperatures have been warm for several days now, and last night’s rain may create icy and wet patches. There may be thinner patches in heavily traveled areas. Hopefully, grooming will resume soon, and we will let you know when the groomers are back out. Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in some locations. Logging is taking place on the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to keep the trails smooth in these areas. Check out a live view of trail # 7 here. Mainly rain is expected Friday morning before transitioning to snow across the eastern U.P. and parts of far northern lower through the afternoon. A switch to all snow will likely hold off until later Friday night. Best chances for at least 2” of wet snow will come across the eastern U.P. and areas of northern lower along and north of M-68. Rain is expected to be the primary precip type south of M-68 at this time. I did see one sled track on the trail 7 north of the high school.. Schools are closed from Houghton Lake to the Soo. Its not really that bad out there but the day could still bring us some more.
